Price is secondary to loving the look and message of the card.

I’m curious to see if (so far) it needs to be improved.

I proofread it twice, but if I mixed up first- and third-person POV, please let me know. I already caught a couple of mistakes.

Also, how’s the plot, characters, scenes?

Deity is in a lot of my stories and I usually don’t describe or introduce him accept in stories that revolve around him.

The sailor stood at the water’s edge. He reflected on his seemingly wasted life aboard the Universal before she sank off the coast of Alaska in bad weather.

The Blue Danube played loudly as the fountains of the Bellagio did their thing.

Why was he still stuck in the past? He had come to Vegas to take his mind off his troubles. It seemed to be working only as much as drunk twenty-something-year-olds, hookers, and gambling tended to, which is to say, not at all.

Nobody had been injured, but he still felt like a failure. All captains are supposed to go down with the ship. He hadn’t. Could he still bring himself to call himself a captain?

Spray from the fountains misted him and it was bringing back memories, both good and bad, both making him feel worse.

He missed the sea, he missed his boat. He missed the thousands he got paid each rotation.

The show ended and the crowds dispersed. He was waiting for Jess. She was the reason he had initially gone to Vegas. They had corresponded for years over the internet, but had never met. And now she was late.

The next show started and ended and he began to get impatient. Then he saw her. She was stunningly beautiful, wearing an inappropriately formal gown which sparkled red. She was wearing bright red lipstick and her hair had been dyed auburn.

She looked out of place, even among the glitz and glamour of Vegas.

"Jessica Rabbit, I presume?" It was Halloween, after all.

Minutes later, they were back at the Sahara, headed for his room. Almost anybody could figure out what was next. But it was not to be. Just as he was about to swipe his card to unlock the door, the fire alarm went off. Modern hotels lock you out of your room when the alarm is going off and some jackass thought it would be a funny prank.

They sat in one of the bars for a while, talking and catching up. She had married and had had kids. She was in Vegas because the sailor had always treated her with some semblance of respect. She wasn’t planning on cheating, but if it happened, it wouldn’t have been that bad. Still she was glad she had been saved by the bell, so to speak.

They paid their tab to the bartender, who was convincingly dressed as Han Solo from Star Wars, and left.

They spent the evening together and saw some very interesting costumes. One guy was even dressed in a white box that said "Free Mammograms" on the front. Jess gave him a dirty look and he replied with "I’m totally legit." That was the first chuckle the sailor had had in a month.

Eventually, they made it back to his room, this time without the fire alarm.

They talked for hours and connected at a level that would make most couples jealous.

Finally, after a few minutes of silence, while staring at the view of the Stratosphere tower from the window, she said "I have an offer for you. You’re not really going to believe my offer, but just bear with me."

"Aside from you divorcing your husband and getting together with me, there’s not a lot I really want."

"You’re sweet, but that’s not the offer."

Suddenly, he found himself sitting in a white room on a fairly expensive looking leather couch. Across from him sat Jess in an equally fancy leather armchair. An ornate mahogany coffee table separated them.

Somehow, he knew that only people whose lives were about to change sat on this couch.

"Somebody who calls himself Deity has given me the option of granting you three wishes. Apparently he’s one of those egotistical–"

Deity cut her off "Thank you, Jess."

The sailor hadn’t seen him enter. He couldn’t even tell where he would have entered from.

"I’ve given her the ability to grant you wishes." Deity continued, "I realize that you’re going through an existential crisis right now and I would like to give you the opportunity, through Jess, to change your existence. This is, of course, solely for my entertainment."

The sailor looked at Jess and back to where Deity was standing, but he was no longer there.

"Tonight, I will grant you one wish. You can’t wish to have me. And you get one wish tonight. None of that wishing for more wishes bullshit. Next Halloween, you’ll get your second wish. The Halloween after that, your third. Think about this as these wishes will change your life and are not trivial. Like that one guy said. I&#3

with regards to the fountains of the Bellagio, it’s a world famous fountain in las vegas. every flyover of the strip in every movie that features a flyover of the strip shows the fountains of bellagio. I’ll change the line a bit, i’m not fond of it either.

with regards to hookers. yes, hookers. in a story.

it helps set the feeling of the story a bit. nevada is the only state in the country where prostitution is legal, but not in Clark county.

To find probability, you need to put the number of things of whatever you want to choose over the number of things there are to choose from. Let me demonstrate.

1. Start by finding out how many cards there are in the box.

Now find the number of cards she wants to choose

11 Thank You
4 Get Well Soom 15 Cards

Now to find the probability of her picking either a "Thank You" or "Get Well Soon" card, you must put the number of "Thank You" or "Get Well Soon" cards over the number of cards all together.
15/20.
When you divide this, you get 0.75, or 75%. There is a 75% chance Victoria would get a "Thank You" or "Get Well Soon" card.

2. Follow the same operations as above. The total is 10 segments, because there are 10 segments Isaiah could get. Therefore there is a 90% change of getting a number, since there are 9 numbers, and a 10% change he would get a "free spin." The other data, including how many times he spun the spinner, how many times he got a number, and asking what is the probability on the 11th try is all there to confuse you. This serves no purpose in the problem. Each time he spins, he has a 90% chance of getting a number.

I’m sorry that I only have a couple of ideas, none of which are very good.

Some prizes are simply honorable mention. For this, you simply mention them in a couple editions of the newsletter so that they get to see their name in print. If they have a website, store, etc you would mention this as well so that they get some publicity. For instance, if one of the winners sells homemade dog treats, honorable mention would look like this:

You could also do a sort of gift card. This would be a little trickier. If you have a partner that would be willing to help you, a local vet, a behaviorist, or a dog trainer, you could give them tickets/gift cards.

Are you any good with computers? Maybe you can digitally manip the pictures as a gift. Make them look old with a brown tint, or make it fade around the edges, or add a speech bubble and make it say something funny or sweet like "Look mommy! I won cutest dog!"

Be nice about it, and if he isn’t comfortable with giving you an address, definitely don’t push it. You could always email one to him instead.

As for what to put in it, that’s really up to you, but don’t be too heavy on the lovey dovey’s. Just be calm, cool, and casual and you’ll do fine.
